Last walk on the beach :-(

February 5, 2009

Sadly, I brush sand from the bottom of my shoes. I just got back from my daily walk on the beach. The last one for a few weeks. We’re packing up the cats and heading back to St. Louis.

The wind whipped my cheeks, the water crashed on shore as hundreds of birds dove into the frigid water in hopes of catching dinner. Lines of pelicans sailed overhead floating on the breeze as fishing boats dotted the horizon. I bundled up and briskly walked a good four miles.

Florida had a freeze warning last night, seems appropriate to get me back in the chill of things, although I heard St. Louis temps were going to hit 60 this weekend. Not a bad trade.

And hey, I can’t be too sad, I’ll be back to host the Wine & Wave Writers Retreat in less than two weeks. I expect especially high productivity as I sit across the table from my favorite writer friend and type the hours away. Of course, we’ll plot and discuss as we take our daily walk on the private stretch of sand that is my back yard.

Then hubby is going to join me for the weekend. We’ll be attending an award ceremony in Orlando. His Via Spiga store in Soho won for Best Store Design of the Year. Woo hoo. I’m so proud of him and his team. They do incredible work. Don’t believe me? Check out www.viaspiga.com and www.francosarto.com – see for yourself!

Well, I best get packing. Until next time, Hugs. Christine
