Wow, I can’t believe we’re already a week into 2023. Where did 2022 go? 

It’s a cold and rainy day here at the lake. The weather doesn’t seem to bother the fishermen. They are out there slowly drifting by, patiently waiting for the fish to bite. It’s very calming to watch them float by from my office window. I’m peaceful in my quiet space. 

I have music playing softly in the background as I contemplate the next chapter in my WIP. This story has been a slow, slow burn in my brain, but it’s gaining momentum. I miss the energy of the many writers’ retreats my friends and I hosted pre-pandemic and I’m hoping this year will allow us to get together face to face again. There’s nothing more invigorating than sitting across from each other working on our stories, but having the opportunity to bounce ideas off of one another, finish a sentence, or plan a plot point. We all seem to thrive on the energy in the room. And having a glass of wine handy doesn’t hurt. 

I’m looking forward to three big trips my husband and I have planned for this year. International travel where we’ll see new places, experience different cultures and of course where I’ll be able to observe people. Voice inflections, facial expressions, body movements to enhance the characters in my books. It’s going to be another fast and fabulous year, but I’m running into it at full speed.
